The Christmas holiday is upon us and people are busy shopping for gifts to give to loved ones, which is a tradition that goes far back and a noble one. However, I have made an observation that especially Christians, forget to give gifts to the One, of which the party is for. You would think that the church would be awash with cash to help the needy at this time of the year since it is the nature of Jesus to give. Evidently this is not the case, in fact, this is the time the church struggles financially because people of God have bought into the pagan way of consuming upon oneself.

Let us wake up church, this is not about us, remember? It is about Jesus! We love to quote John 3:16 and are oblivious to its meaning. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whomsoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I want you to notice that God LOVED, and what follows is the character of love; He GAVE.

I know by now you have bought all the gifts and yet there remaineth one. This is the most important one. Remember when the Lord sent Samuel the Prophet to anoint one of Jesse`s Sons? All his sons were asked to come and walk before the prophet and these guys looked the part, but God rejected them. Samuel asked if these were all his sons and Jesse said, there yet remaineth one and behold he tendeth the sheep. Samuel said they will not sit down till he came. Young David was the one, and we know he is the one that was anointed by the prophet to be King over Israel.

What have you kept aside for the Lord? That is the one that will bring THE blessing into your family. Let the Lord lead you this season and make a mark that shall not be erased. Let us not be vain this time around. Let us meet the needs of people in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
