More Valuable Than Gold

"Pure gold cannot be given in exchange for it, Nor can silver be weighed as its price. It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, In precious onyx, or sapphire." (Job 28:15-16).

What if finding gold was as simple as going out to your backyard and picking up nuggets? It's a wonderful thought, but to get rich is not as easy as that. How easy is it to earn money? Not to difficult. The amount of money you earn is based upon the value of your service or product. If you provide a service that many can provide your value will be low. If you provide a service that only a few can provide, your value will be high. How much wealth you have, or will have, therefore is as simple as deciding how hard you are willing to work to provide products/services that have value.

Solomon was the richest man in the world and yet he recognized that there is something more valuable than money or riches. That beyond being able to take care of the basics and perhaps being able to purchase a few toys, or perhaps being able to travel and seek other forms of entertainment, that there was a more honorable pursuit.
Job asked the question in the oldest book in the Bible, where can wisdom be found or purchased?

Proverbs 8 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 8:19 "(19) My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, And my yield than choicest silver."

Psalm 68:11-14 (Theme: God's Triumphant Procession). "(11) The Lord gives the command; The women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host: (12) Kings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home will divide the spoil!" (13) When you lie down among the sheepfolds, You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver, And its pinions with glistening gold. (14) When the Almighty scattered the kings there, It was snowing in Zalmon."

Today's question. What is more valuable than gold?

"But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living. The deep says, ‘It is not in me'; And the sea says, ‘It is not with me'." (Job 28:12-14).

The answer to our question is wisdom. Every man, woman and child is charged to obtain it. It cannot be purchased. You cannot buy it by paying another who has it to be used in your behalf. No, every person must seek it for themselves.

What value is this wisdom for the individual? It is the ability to make correct judgments. The power to discern righteousness. It is truth taught by the living God. It is the value of spiritual training; the ability to obtain of which was made by our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the ability to understand and interact with our Lord at a meaningful level. It sees evil. It avoids traps. It is the foundation of joy. It is understanding God's commandments, precepts and statutes. It is life everlasting.

Dear God, I know that all who seek your wisdom will find it. I pray that many will seek it. Amen.
