"And I discovered more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her." (Ecclesiastes 7:26).

The world presents many women that we hold up as role models as adulteress. Women who are superstars that grace our movie screens. Women that have star roles on television. Women who are great singers with gold and platinum recordings. Many of these women have children outside of marriage. They move from one man to another as easily as changing roles in a movie script.

Many of our children are following in the same practice. The Heritage Foundation has found that over 50% of our teenagers are sexually active with 25% experiencing depression. Every day over 8,000 teens are infected by a sexually transmitted disease. What is wrong with this picture?

There are no easy solutions, but I can share with you one thing that is wrong; Christian parents and guardians are not teaching children, as Solomon taught his son, to stay away from sex out side of marriage.

Proverbs 5 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 5:20 "(20) For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress, And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?"

Psalm 68:5-6 (Theme: God's Triumphant Procession). "(5) A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation. (6) God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land."

Today's question. What is God's plan?

"Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does." (1 Corinthians 7:1-4).

This plan should be thoroughly taught to teenagers when they are old enough and have need to understand the reasons behind God's plan. Parents have this responsibility and they should gather the facts, discuss various scenarios, discuss the risks and have their sons and daughters understand the consequences of make life changing decisions.

Teach them wisdom from the Book of Proverbs. Take your time and go through Proverbs Chapter 5 with each child. Although Solomon presents these Proverbs from the point of view of teaching a son, it is quite easy to teach the same Proverbs from the point of view of a daughter.

Dear God, help us to return to your teaching and not use those of the world. For we put our children in dire circumstances when they are not taught well. Amen.
