Avoid The Scoffer

"Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." (Matthew 15:14).

A scoffer or mocker is a person who is so full of themselves that they cannot take instruction or reproof. They hold others in contempt and are almost impossible to teach. They cannot even accept the teachings of God if these teachings contradict their own personal world view.

Today's Proverb teaches that it is unwise to even talk with scoffers. To do so does nothing but bring the wise teacher down resulting in God being disgraced. A scoffer will not accept wise words and if you try to teach them, you will bring nothing but insults upon yourself.

Matthew put it this way: "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, least they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." (Matthew 7:6).

Proverbs 9 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 9:7 "(7) He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself."

Psalm 15:4 (Theme: Conditions For Communication With God) "(4) In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honors those who fear the Lord; He swears to his own hurt, and does not change;"
Today's question. Speak love and pray?

God loves his people. He loves to spend time with His children in prayer. He loves to plan and to bless those who live in His tent or kingdom. His primary focus is on the good and not on the bad. Indeed, there will come a time when God will not have to focus on people who are morally deprived, unprincipled and wicked at all. This will be upon the return of Jesus Christ who will implement complete judgment and separation of those who are good and those who are evil.

The only hope for the scoffer, the scorner, the reprobate is to come to recognition of the life of lies and contempt they live. Jesus says; "Not what enter into the mouth defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." (Matthew 15:11). Therefore the scoffer must repent and change his/her ways. If they do not, then they live the lives of impending doom.

Dear God, because there is so little we can do with scoffers, we pray that they will have a life changing experience that will bring them to repentance and the love of Jesus Christ. Amen.
