Angry citizens of Pakistan's biggest metropolitan city came on streets due to prolonged power outages. Some time the so-called "load shading" is scheduled with dawn and dusk of sun. The first privatized management of the Karachi Electric Supply Company on Friday admitted that despite foreknowledge of short supply of gas for the past three months, it saved on furnace oil and operated the Thermal Power Plant much below the rated capacity, which caused massive power outages and had an adverse impact on trade and industry, along with causing power riots.

To solve the matter of power, The Speaker of the provincial assembly with a member of same political party discussed with the management of the company but where were the federal and provincial minister and secretaries of power?

The briefing or so-called official meeting between the Speaker of assembly later joined by an member of assembly and provincial minister of industries with the privatized management amid mounting public outrage over prolonged power outages and the indifferent attitude of the foreign management of the utility. The second most important point to notice is that the managing director of the company was also not in the briefing and a representative of current owner of the electric company was present only.

The esteem speaker of the assembly told in interview to daily  "Dawn" newspaper that during the meeting the company representatives admitted they were not operating plant at its optimum capacity because they were saving on furnace oil. Output was far below requirement because of shortage of gas and less use of furnace oil. He said that KESC representatives could not explain why they could not take contingency measures when they were aware of the gas shortage and why they remained unconcerned about their contractual agreement with clients.

The system of Pakistan is still same and so we are. The most important need is to change the system that we adopted long time ago and must understand that only the people of Islamic Republic of Pakistan can change the system because we are citizens, we are in governments, we are in forces, we are in politics and we have to change it.
