Living healthy doesn't mean your drinks need to lack in flavor. There are just as many great tasting healthy drinks as there are recipes for wheat grass juice. So, don't even pretend that you are sacrificing something by living a little better.

If your old recipes aren't working for you though, consider trying something a little different. There are plenty of great tasting drinks to be made from fruits which are naturally sweet and contain plenty of vitamins. Don't live on wheat grass juice alone. Why not try the great tasting flavors of these healthy homemade drink ideas instead? You'll need a juicer for some of these drinks and a blender for others.

Watermelon Apple Juice

Watermelons are filled with mostly liquid, so it's easy to juice these melons for a refreshing fruit juice. It makes a great summer drink and watermelons are filled with Vitamin A and Vitamin C and lycopene. While Apples contain Vitamin A, K and E and water soluble fiber.


-One juicer
-One small watermelon cut into slices
-Four apples any variety

1. Slice up the watermelon. Feed it all into the juicer, including the rind.
2. Slice up apples and place them directly into the juicer.
3. Place Juice in fridge to cool or serve over ice.

This recipe is good for approximately two quarts.

A Waldorf

If you are looking for a little taste of class in a refreshing juice try the Waldorf. It's extremely simple and you can pour it over some white wine for special occasions. This drink contains apples, which we already know are filled with fiber and Vitamin A. It also contains celery which is filled with more fiber, potassium, folic acid, B vitamins and Vitamin C.


-A juicer
-8 apples
-4 stalks of celery

1. Slice up apples. Feed into the juicer.
2. Feed celery stalks into the juicer whole.
3. Serve over chilled white wine or ice.

This recipe is good for around one quart of juice.

Simple Tropical Smoothie

This has got to be the world's simplest smoothie and made with two the cheapest and most commonly found fruits in the produce section. Our simple tropical smoothie contains bananas, which are rich in potassium, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and fiber. The second ingredient is pineapple which contains manganese, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and B1, copper and fiber.

-A blender
-8 ice cubes
-2 large banana, cut into chunks
-2 cans diced pineapple

1. Open pineapple and pour into blender.
2. Peel and cut 2 bananas into chunks.

3. Add banana chunks and ice cubes to blender.
4. Blend until smooth.
5. Serve immediately.

This recipe is good for a little over one quart or juice.

These three healthy homemade drink ideas are more than enough to keep you cool and healthy over the summer. They contain lots of vitamins, minerals and great flavor, so they are definitely healthy.
