To put into practice of washing hand with soap especially with anti bacterial liquid soap is the simplest way to protect from gastro intestinal diseases and many viral infections. Especially in children whom white blood cell protection system yet not developed completely. To awake the importance of washing hands regularly, the sub continent of India made the first ‘Global Hand Washing Day'. Due to many deaths of children by gastro illness, it was necessary to urge the nations through all modes of media that regular hand wash prevents us from hundred of sickness.

Serious issues of dirty water supply and sanitation dog many parts of the country. Moreover, many areas of metropolitan cities are without having their own water tap in home. So how can we expect to pamper them for frequent hand wash when they have to bring water in buckets from far long sources? How can we introduce hand wash practice in schools having no proper arrangements of even toilets, supply of water in school timing only so soap is like a sample piece to put in glass box. How can the public be encouraged to adopt the hand washing habit and a hygienic lifestyle when the few public toilets available are filthy because of no water supply and proper soap arrangements?

This awareness day programs can be of starter for those who have the facility to regularly and thoroughly wash their hands but still do not do so. More projections on this issue by electronic media with help of soap industries will surely work out. In well-equipped offices and comfortable homes, it is common to see people holding their hands under the tap for a few seconds but many of them don't know the complete way of cleaning the hands after using the toilet or to start eating food.

However, for the population at large, lessons in hygiene well intentioned will hold little meaning unless we simultaneously tackle the challenge of providing a regular supply of water and adequate sanitation facilities to everyone. This involves addressing and fixing concerns such as the water-related needs of the poor and the middle classes, the shortcomings and even absence of sewerage systems, and the failure of municipal organizations to remove and dispose of solid waste in a timely, hygienic and environment-friendly manner. This will take time and lot of efforts, so the planning must start now if we wish to see our children healthy.
