Goshen’s Vegetarian Fried Wontons

Goshen’s vegetarian fried wontons are a good alternative for a vegetarian appetizer or snack.  This vegetarian appetizer or snack contains a wonderful blend of tofu, scallions, garlic, and ginger. Goshen’s vegetarian fried wontons are complemented by a dipping sauce that adds a subtle flavor to the wontons. Goshen’s vegetarian fried wontons are a great appetizer or snack for the friends and family that will make your taste buds say yum.

Makes 30


· 30 wonton wrappers

·  1 egg beaten

· Oil for deep frying

Ingredients for filling

· 2 teaspoon(about 10 milliliters)  vegetable oil

· 1 tablespoon(about 15 milliliters) grated fresh ginger

· 2 garlic clove, finely chopped

· 1 tablespoon(about 15 milliliters) soy sauce

· 2 teaspoons(about 10 milliliters) of sesame oil

· 6 scallions, finely chopped

· 8 ounces(226 grams) of tofu

· Pinch of salt

· Pinch of pepper

Ingredients for dipping sauce

· 2 tablespoons(about 30milliliters) of soy sauce

· 2 tablespoons (about 30 milliliters)of water

· ½ teaspoon(about 3 milliliters)  of honey

· ½ teaspoon (about 3 milliliters) of chili oil

· 1 tablespoon(about 15 milliliters) rice vinegar

· 1 tablespoon(about 15 milliliters) of sesame oil


Step 1: The first step in Goshen’s vegetarian wontons is to get a baking sheet covered in wax paper or sprinkle lightly with flour and set it aside. To make the filling, heat the oil in the frying pan and add the garlic cloves and fresh ginger and fry for 30 seconds. Then crumble in the tofu and stir-fry for a 2-3 minutes or until desired.

Step 2: Add the scallions, sesame oil and soy sauce to the pan. Stir well and add the salt and pepper as desired for seasoning. Then remove from heat and set aside and cool. At this point start the dipping sauce by adding all the dipping sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly. (The sauce is a wonderful addition to Goshen’s vegetarian fried wontons)

Step 3: Next place a wonton wrapper on a board in a diamond position. Brush the edges of the wonton wrappers with the beaten egg. Then spoon 1 teaspoon (15 milliliters) of the wonton filling from the frying pan into the center of the wonton wrappers. Remember to let the stir-fry cool before putting it into the wonton wrappers for best quality of Goshen’s vegetarian fried wontons.

Step 4: Pull the top corner down to the bottom corner, folding the wrapper over the filling to make a triangle, press firmly and seal. Place the made wontons on the baking sheet. Then heat up the deep fryer or heat up the oil in a saucepan and carefully add a few wontons at a time for a few minutes or until golden brown. Place the wontons on a plate covered in a paper towel. Then serve Goshen’s vegetarian fried wontons with the dipping sauce for a tasty appetizer or snack.
