Serves 4

Ingredients:

·         4 firm apples of your choice

·         ½ cup(about 125 milliliters) of water

·         1 cup(about 227 grams) of all purpose baking flour

·         1 egg, beaten

·         ¾ cup(about 170 grams) of sugar

·         Vegetable oil for deep-frying

Directions:

Step 1: The first step in Goshen’s toffee fried apples is to peel and core each apple cutting them into 8 pieces each. Dust each piece of apple with flour and sift the remaining flour into a large bowl. Then take your large bowl of sifted flower and add the cold water and stir together thoroughly making a smooth batter. Add the beaten egg and blend together well.

Step 2: Then get a large frying pan or fryer and heat up enough oil for frying. Put the apple pieces in the frying pan or deep fryer for about 3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the apple pieces from the frying pan and drain off the oil. (Tip for Goshen’s toffee and fried apples: put the apples on a paper towel to help drain off the excess oil)

Step 3: Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan and 2 extra teaspoons (about 30 milliliters) of oil  and add the sugar until caramelized. Then quickly add in the apple pieces and stir thoroughly. Make sure to thoroughly coat each piece of apple in the frying pan mixture. Dip each apple piece in cold water to harden. Then you are ready to enjoy Goshen’s toffee fried apples.
