This unique dish uses a good quality Muscat sweet dessert wine. Goshen’s sweet figs are a wonderful fruit dish that is good for breakfast or dessert.

Serves 4

Ingredients:

·         2 cups(about 500 milliliters) of Muscat sweet dessert wine (or your favorite Dessert wine)

·         4 black figs that are ripe but firm.

·         2 oranges

·         1 ¼ teaspoons(about 7 grams) unflavored gelatin powder

·         ¼ cup(about 57 grams) of fresh mint leaves

·         1 zest of lemon

Directions:

Step 1: The first step in Goshen’s sweet figs is to warm ½ cup(about 125 milliliters) of sweet dessert wine in a small pot over low heat, and add the gelatin and let it dissolve in the wine. Do not let the wine boil and stir in the remaining 1 ½ cups of wine. Pour the wine into 4 large shallow soup bowls and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until a gelatin forms on the bottom of the bowl.

Step 2: The next step in Goshen’s sweet figs is to zest both oranges and set the zest aside. Slice off the top and the bottom of each orange. Also cut down the sides of the orange to remove all of the peel. Cut along the sides of each membrane and pull out the segments.

Step 3: Cut the figs into quarters and arrange the fig quarters on top of the gelatin. Arrange the orange segments on top of the figs and garnish with the mint leaves and lemon and orange zest. Then you are ready to enjoy Goshen’s sweet figs
