How To Prepare Dinner Rolls

Dinner rolls are easy to make and can be taken or served anytime of the day with other foods.


·        250g flour

·        1 egg

·        250 ml milk

·        1 teaspoon yeast

·        3 tbsp sugar

·        Butter

·        fat


1.      Mix warm liquid and sugar then add yeast and leave the mixture in a warm place for yeast to grow.

2.      Boil water to wash the utensils to make them warm.

3.      Sieve ingredients into a bowl and place in oven for some time to warm.

4.      Rub in fat.

5.       Boil half the milk and mix with the rest.

6.      Add 2 tablespoons of milk to yeast and soften into a cream then stir in half the milk.

7.      Make a well in the flour center (big hole) and pour yeast and water into it.

8.      Mix with hand to make a soft elastic dough using milk.

9.      Knead the dough in a greased or flovoured bowl stand the bowl in a basin or cooking pan with warm water.

10.  Cover with a damp cloth and leave the dough to rise until doubled its size.

11.  Turn the risen dough on a floured board and give it a through kneading to distribute carbon dioxide and yeast cells evenly.

12.  Roll the dough on a board and cut to required shapes.

13.  Grease the baking tray with butter and arrange the rolls.

14.  Brush on top of the rolls with a beaten egg and bake in a hot oven at first and then reduce the temp.  You can also brush with butter and sprinkle sesame seeds on top of dinner rolls.

15.  Bake till golden brown.
