Systems Engineer configuring and testing Radar Simulators at Redifon Ltd, these where used to train Tug crews and Port Masters on using Radar Systems to dock large boats (i.e. oil Tankers).

Computer Engineer doing installation and maintenance tasks at U.C.C. SA in Paris, France my first role in Europe and this had me working round the clock with oil and gas well analysis being done during the day by Lumus Engineers and running on large UNIVAC main frame computers in London and Houston.

Then at night the Reporters from Li Figaro Newspaper started about 21:00 downloading news stories from around the world and then going back to their offices to write them up. Also went outside Paris to a large construction company who simulated large construction projects. Swopped roles with the Engineer based in the Hague and worked at Defence Department, Steel Works and Lumus.

Test Engineer testing Radar sub-assemblies at DECCA Radar Ltd again using my Radar knowledge doing Ariel charts on the test rig. Test Engineer testing analog and digital boards at M.E.L. Ltd for Swedish Navy Radar Systems.

Computer Engineer installing and maintaining process computer systems throughout Western Europe for G.E. AG. This started with two training in the USA and on-the-job training at Exxon Europort near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Then worked at different sites: Rubber Plant in Luxembourg, Petro-chemical Plant in Sicily, Nuclear Power Stations in Italy and Switzerland.  

Test Engineer on mini-computer systems at Varian Assoc. Ltd gained this role through the Chief Engineer being an ex-GE Manager.

System Test / Quality Assurance Engineer installed control systems in missiles and used the missile measuring systems at EMI Defence Systems Ltd to check they worked and fixed any faults found.

Commissioning Engineer working on X-Ray Body Scanners at EMI Medical Ltd this involved working in a two person team and building the scanner and testing it in operation with wooden block and human skull and checking the displayed pictures were correct and readable.

PDS Engineer produced the document set to enable the valve manufacturing and test systems to be built at EMI/Varian Ltd this covered taking the machines apart and rebuilding them and taking measurements at different stages and doing configurations which got turned into engineering drawings.

Maintenance Engineer missile simulation systems with EMI Defence Systems Ltd this covered running the trails data and printing out the results for sign-off by the Designer. Four roles with one company and they covered July 1975 to August 1977.
