It is not possible for the older models to receive pictures from people with the updated versions. The service provider is therefore forced to find a way of charging the people who make use of such services. In order for the services providers to offer satisfactory services to their clients, they need to find a flexible system to work with.

In order for them to reduce the costs, there have been suggestions on advertising using handsets. They can charge the advertiser instead of the subscriber for the VoIP billing system. If they have to charge the subscriber, they can do so at discounted rates. It is not clear about the impact such an action will have on the statements. Wireless lifeline will be cheaper for clients to use.
