Not all of the printers on the market today have been created equal. There are those that are very expensive and are meant for commercial use. Then there are the others that have been designed for in-home use. The HP LaserJet 4000t printer has been created for the latter with a home budget in mind. This printer allows for great printing quality using HP LaserJet 4000t toner, while still managing to be affordable to many households. The information that follows will explain the specifications of this model and try to help you decide if it is the right one for you.

The 4000t comes with a 100 MHz processor and a small 4 MB cache of internal memory. The production rate tops out at seventeen printed sheets per minute. This allows for a workload of 65,000 pages per month which is more than most homes need. Even though these numbers seem quite low, it allows for this machine to have low energy consumption and has earned the Energy Star rating.

Just because it was designed for home use does not mean that the 4000t is not a versatile machine. In addition to supporting letter, legal, and executive paper styles, support for envelopes, transparencies, labels, and business cards is preset. It comes equipped with three individual trays. Together they can hold a combined total of 600 sheets of printing media without having to be reloaded. There is even an attachment that allows for duplex printing. This helps maximize the usage and efficiency of all the materials and your time.

With the 4000t measuring at 15.1" tall, 16.9" deep, and 15.4" wide, it is small enough to fit on top of most desks. If there is not room there, you have the option of using a small printer stand. This machine weighs in at 45.6 pounds which allows most people to easily move it from place to place while being heavy enough to not move while printing.

The 4000t does not come capable of wireless networking right as you unpack it. But, it does offer connectivity options as it contains both an IEEE 1284 parallel port with serial connections. If you do have a network though, you can hardwire this printer. While hardwired with the host PC turned on and operational, it is able to act as a networking printer for your home or small office needs.

A unique feature of the 4000t, as with all of the 4000 series, is that they are very region and language specific. If your home is not located in the United states or your native language is not English, then the printer will come with a variety of accessories. This includes a language specific console overlay along with a User's Guide to help you with installation. What is included in all retail packages include all necessary cables, a free 10,000-page print cartridge, and a CD-ROM containing useful print networking software.

With all of the home printers on the market, the 4000t still manages to be one of the most affordable. You can find it on the shelf for about $150 for a new model, and for less than $100 if you are looking for a refurbished model. With the 4000t printer earning the Energy Star Efficiency, this machine is both purchasable and inexpensive to operate.

The HP LaserJet 4000t is in no way the most advanced or even the most powerful printer out in stores. Its purpose is to provide affordable printing of good quality in people's homes, not to be trying to be a powerhouse printer. If you are in the market for a home printer that is versatile and of good quality, then the 4000T should be considered.

'Inexpensive to operate' can also be said when it comes to the HP LaserJet 4000t toner used. Obtaining HP toner online from many of the reliable vendors there will show substantial savings on every toner purchase.
