Workers can sometimes be in situations that require a certain type of safety apparel. ANSI products are certified by the American National Standards Institute and that organization ensures that their products are of the highest standards. They also correlate with internationally accepted standards, which means they have worldwide approval. If employees must work in circumstances where they need to be highly visible, ANSI safety vests are the best bet.

Class One

Different situations require different classes of vests. The first, Class One, is for circumstances where there is a relatively safe distance from traffic. Warehouse workers should wear them to guard against those who are using forklifts and other mechanical equipment. This vest is also meant for parking attendants and sidewalk workers as well as those who work in parking lots retrieving carts for stores.

Class Two

In situations where traffic speed will be greater than 25 miles per hour, Class Two is the apparel to be used. The ANSI class II vest is also appropriate for work where weather conditions reduce visibility. Those who wear this class might be police conducting traffic, crossing guards, or airport employees who work on the tarmac.

Class Three

Class Three identifies the apparel that has the highest visibility. These vests are used for all types of poor weather conditions and also when traffic speeds will be greater than 50 miles per hour. All employees working on road construction, including those who are vehicle operators, are safest when they are wearing this class of vest. Investigators at accident sites also use them, as well as emergency medical teams. Class Two and Three vests are worn by those who work on or near railways, as well.

Reflective

There are standards applied to each of these classes. They all need to be clearly visible and use retro-reflective materials of a certain width. The first type requires a width of one inch or more, the second must be greater than 1.38 inches and the third type requires a width of at least two inches. These requirements create the best visibility possible in the various situations.

Colors

The brightest colors are used: fluorescent green, yellow, or orange. Clear and visible contrast is established with the reflective material, which can also be white or gray. Fabric or mesh materials are used in these products or sometimes, a combination of both. There are also styles that offer a specific outline contrast.

Styles

Style names are by class or they can also include names such as Economy, Public Service and Incident Command Safety. It is also possible to find jackets or t-shirts that are able to meet the highest standards. There are products available with pockets and zippered fronts, too.

If there is a situation where workers may be in danger, it is important that they are wearing ANSI vest. Our road construction crews, policemen, firefighters, traffic controllers, and emergency medical teams provide valuable services. Keeping them safe is of utmost importance and when ANSI class 2 vests are certified by the American National Standards Institute, it's guaranteed to be of the highest quality.
