Gujarat bore the brunt of terrible floods, and then the state faced one of the most devastating earthquakes since independence, and as if this wasn’t enough, riots wrecked havoc on the state’s economy after the earthquake. But since the last decade, the state has been in news for all the right reasons: the economy has been growing steadily at the rate of more than 10% per annum. Gujarat has also succeeded in projecting an image of business-friendliness and numerous Indian as well as foreign companies have set up their operations in Gujarat. 

Hundreds of thousands of jobs in Ahmedabad have been created after companies invested billions in the state. The Chief Minister of the state’s success in getting the multi-billion Tata Nano project to Gujarat after that company faced problems with procuring land in West Bengal. The city has everything one can hope for, and yet it doesn’t have the tense, taut, claustrophobic air of metros like Mumbai or Delhi.

Jobs are available in diverse sectors like finance, IT industry, hospitality industry, healthcare, infrastructure development and realty. The jobs in Ahmedabad pay almost as well as jobs in metros, but Ahmedabad is not as expensive as those cities, and people can get a good standard of living in Ahmadabad for a lot less money. 

Ahmedabad has been in news because of the Vibrant Gujarat events which have seen investors pledging investment of over 100,000 crores in the state. All that publicity has not hurt Gujarat’s biggest city, and a large number of professionals are opting to take jobs in Ahmedabad and settle in the city.
