Although the mainstream clothing industry will design some adequately modest clothes, there is no question that there is a need for a distinctly modest clothing industry. If you are willing to spend all day traipsing from store to store you can possibly find that modest dress, skirt, or shirt that you need to add to your wardrobe. Fashion designers have added modest articles of clothing to their line because they have identified a growing market for modest clothes.
In the modern era modesty began its decline in the mid-nineteenth century. The rise of the burlesque show in the 1840's began as the entertainment genre for the lower classes, for the purpose of making fun of (“burlesquing”) the habits of the upper class, such as wearing modest, long dresses.
Admittedly it is very difficult to find modest clothing in most clothing outlets. This has given rise to the modest clothing industry. However, whether you wear modest or immodest clothing if you do not choose the right colors for you, your clothes will detract from your natural beauty. Although you cannot experience a professional color analysis from an article, there are some general guidelines that you can follow to assure that you choose the right colors when you add to your wardrobe.
