Vacations can be awesome experiences, but planning for them isn't at all. Finding passports, packing luggage, and a finding house sitter can really dampen the vacation spirit. However, it doesn't have to. Getting a little advice can help you get organized, and then all you have to worry about is having fun. First, find your passport. If you can't, consider getting an expedited passport renewal. It costs extra, but the peace of mind is definitely worth it.

Even if you aren't going out of the country, keeping your passport with you is always a good idea. A passport is a good form of identification, and if your wallet or purse gets stolen, it will prove to be an irreplaceable lifeline. If the dog ate your passport, consider a damaged pasport replacement. You're going to have to do it eventually, so do it now so you don't have to worry about it later.

It is excessively difficult to pack without over packing. Do your best not to. You will appreciate not bringing every coat you own when you have to lug all five bags ten blocks to your hotel. The first and best thing to do is to relax and start a list. No matter how obvious something seems, put it on your list anyway. This especially includes the important things, like your tickets, passports, reservations, car keys, directions, and things of that nature. Tossing things into your bag as they cross your mind really isn't a good strategy. This can leave you in a panic if you can't find something and don't know if you packed it or not.

What's the weather going to be like? What specific activities will you are doing? Where exactly will you be staying? Keep these questions in mind when making your list. Every vacation has a different packing list, and knowing exactly what you need will prevent you from running around looking for your snorkel right before you have to leave. Will you be going to the beach? Don't forget your beach towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, and flip-flops. If you're going to a colder climate, bring gloves, a scarf, and warm coats. Will you be camping? Bring bug spray and a sleeping bag.

Do your best to find travel-size versions of all your toiletries. Huge bottles can be bulky, taking up a lot of room in your bag. They also have the potential to explode or leak everywhere. Unless you are going some place extremely remote, you will probably be able to get access to a drug store to restore your supply.

Take the time to scan and make copies of all your important travel documents. This includes everything like your passport, your hotel reservation, important phone numbers, social security card, driver's license, insurance information, and anything else you deem important. After you scan them, email them to yourself so they are easily accessible. Print copies and leave these with family members or the house sitter so someone always knows where you are.

All that's left is squeezing all your stuff into your bag. Consider every piece of clothing carefully and leave out anything you won't need. Make sure you have your passports, and if not, invest in an expedited United States passport renewal or a damaged passport replacement. Now that you are all set, relax and enjoy your vacation.
