Save Money By Replacing Your Kitchen Cabinet Doors
The kitchen is the room of the house
that probably gets more use than any other room, save the bedrooms. We
drink our morning coffee, eat lunch and more than likely eat most of
our meals in this single room. When the cabinets start to look old and
tired, and easy upgrade is to replace the kitchen cabinet doors.
Doors come in many different styles are much more affordable than
putting in all new cabinets. However, try not to get too excited about
any one style before making sure that it matches up with the overall
look of the kitchen. It would be a shame to waste money on something
that simply does not go with anything else in the room.
A flat panel door is always a safe bet. In many cases, they will
still have a design that is beveled into the door, but it will be
pretty basic and there will be no more than two levels in all on the
doors. They are called this because the inner and outer design is
generally of the same depth.
Raised doors are also an option. This style of cabinet door ads a
little more style to the room and will offer a three tiered design to
the cabinet door. Just this little difference is often enough for
people to sit up and take notice at the new cabinet doors. Usually, the
inner design will be higher than the outer level and with the beveling
there will actually be three tiers on the cabinet door.
For something totally different, a RTF or rigid thermo foil cabinet
door can be used. These doors are specially designed and passed through
a machine that bonds the door. The price range on these will vary on
the actual passes that are made during the design process. For example,
a door that is rated RTF-3 pass will be much less money that a cabinet
door that is rated as an RTF- 5 pass cabinet door.
There should also be the consideration of other materials as well
before deciding on the doors. Some things will have to be taken into
consideration because money could be easily wasted by choosing the
right cabinet doors. Sometimes spending less is a good idea if
conditions warrant it.
Laminate doors are sometimes the most cost effective solution for a
kitchen. It is not so much the upfront money that is at stake here as
it is the daily maintenance of the cabinet door itself. When kitchens
have bad ventilation, wood doors can be eaten away over time and glass
doors will get a nasty coating on them. Laminate doors will offer a
long life and easy cleaning.
Nothing sets a kitchen up for success
like the kitchen cabinet doors. They can totally enhance a room or send
it to interior design hell. Take the time to look over the various cabinet doors and choose what will look and work best. Remember, regardless
of the type and material, there are options to suit just about anyone’s
tastes.
