Do you suffer with uncomfortable varicose veins? Do you have pains and feelings of discomfort due to your spider veins?

Even though some people are under the impression that spider veins are just something you have to deal with as you get older, the truth of the matters that there are some simple remedies to getting rid of your unsightly veins!

While there are different causes of varicose veins most have the common factor of the vein wall weakening. The weakening of that wall can result in the blood pooling in the legs and the flow of blood slowing, which will inevitably cause the appearance of spider veins.

All veins have a natural valve that keeps the blood from flowing the wrong way within the vein. However, if the vein wall weakens it is possible for the valve to become weak as well and stop functioning properly, sometimes allowing back flow of the blood. This back flow can cause the vein to become gorged and the blood flow would slow down and cause the vein to expand and show even though the skin.

While it is possible for anyone to get Varicose veins, pregnant women and overweight women are much more likely to develop them. This is caused by the increased stress of blood flow and pressure that they put on their veins and on their entire circulatory system. People who have become overweight or people who stand for long periods of time are very likely to develop varicose veins as well.

The most common symptom of varicose veins is the mild discomfort and itching feeling under the skin. The degree of these symptoms can span from a slightly annoying feeling occasionally, to a very severe discomfort almost non-stop. There is also the possibility of some very serious complications arising from varicose veins.

Even thought spider veins do not always have serious consequences, many people would still like to get rid of theirs. In milder cases they can be easily fixed by wearing special stockings designed to compress the leg and force the blood to flow in a more concise and direct pattern. This is usually recommended for those that do not suffer from severe symptoms and who have mild varicose veins.

For some of the more severe cases surgery may be the recommended course of action. Surgery can help by either removing the vein or redirecting the blood flow to make it go in a more direct and natural circulatory flow. These options are usually avoided, but if the patient is suffering from high levels of pain or discomfort they will consider surgery.
