Racing, in one form or another, has always been a popular past time for people all over the world. In the 20th century, nearly fifty percent of the people at live in the United States began to show interest in the sport of racing and street racing was born on back roads and tracks. The west coast soon lived a life of racing enthusiasts and soon American Racing Wheels were created.

One of the first types of racing wheels that were created in the early fifties was known as the mag wheel. Soon after that came the development of magnesium wheels that had spokes instead of molded materials.

In 1956, American Racing Equipment was constructed and they started manufacturing some of the most popular and top selling racing wheels. This company grew in popularity because they often sponsored racing events, but in the early sixties, a company called Torque Thrust bought them out.

The wheels became so popular; consumers were ordering and installing them on their everyday rides. Many of the people that have racing wheels on their car have no intention on racing them. They can almost instantly turn their normal cars into muscle cars by simply changing the regular wheels for racing wheels.

Many people began collecting racing wheels in the 1960's. Some of the most expensive were the Broken Vector, which was manufactured by American Racing Wheels. They were known for their efficiency and value. It didn't take long for the popularity of the sport of racing dribbled into the pop culture.

There are many different types of wheels to choose from, one being their top selling wheels is known as Hopster. They are often the choice of wheels to put on classic vehicles and that style of wheel has been around for many years. Oversized and aluminum wheels are other popular choices. When racecars need wheels to enhance their performance, low profile may be the best way to go.

Hopsters are known for their goods looks and affordability. They sell for around two hundred dollars for the fifteen-inch wheels, and around four hundred for the larger twenty inch wheel. The basic design of racing wheels have five molded slots and have the choice of a center cap that usually is different that the overall design of the wheel. To find even more unique wheels, do some research online. There are many companies that offer the best wheels available on the World Wide Web.

Racing wheels tend to be heavier than normal tires. This is because they are made of heavy gauge materials to add structural integrity. They compliment the look of white wall tires and have a variety of sizes, both in rim and width. The design of the wheel can even have circle patterns and various offsets.

There are many different manufacturers of American Racing wheels. Some have the classic look and some develop the more modern racing appearance. To find one that will complement the look of your car, do a little research before committing to a purchase. There are many different styles, sizes and manufacturers of wheels to choose from.
