Alan Jackson, one of country music’s biggest stars, was honored with the Alan Jackson Star Ceremony earlier this year. Since releasing his first album in 1990, Jackson has put out thirteen full length albums, with his most recent, Freight Train, hitting stores on March 30th. This most recent honor is sure to secure his place in history as a country music icon.

Although it is a great honor to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard, this is not the first major award Alan Jackson has won. Over the years, he has taken home fourteen Academy Of Country Music Awards as well as twelve Country Music Association Awards. In 2002, he won the Best Country Song Grammy for his 9/11 tribute, “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning).”

Over the course of his impressive career, Alan Jackson has had other accomplishments that are not recognized with trophies and stars. In addition to his ACM, CMA and Grammy Awards, he has 50-million albums sold and thirty-four number one hits to his name. At fifty-one years old, he is still going strong with new hits and extensive touring.

Jackson is in good company on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, among many other starts of music, film and television. Other country legends who have received this special honor include Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and Reba McEntire. Even some iconic fictional characters have graced the Walk Of Fame, including Kermit The Frog and Lassie.

It is no small feat to receive a star on the legendary Walk Of Fame and while it may not seem like it, not just anyone can get one. The record or production company of the star in question must campaign to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for the honor. To be considered, a performer must be in the business for at least five years and have made contributions to charity.

Although he may not make a big deal of his charitable contributions, Alan Jackson has certainly given back to the community. He has lent his support to both the Red Cross and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. Recently, he performed a concert to benefit the families of the Upper Big Branch mining disaster.

After the unveiling of his Hollywood Boulevard star, Alan Jackson treated some lucky fans to an intimate performance at a small Hollywood club called Hotel Café. He played a 21-song set to radio contest winners who flew in from all over the country for the occasion. Jackson rarely plays in such small venues and fans were thrilled to see him perform with his eight-piece band.

The Alan Jackson star ceremony honored an amazing musician and caring humanitarian who has had a huge impact on country music. From his hit songs to his charity work, Alan Jackson has left a positive mark in every aspect of his career. His star on Hollywood Boulevard will ensure that his contributions are remembered for generations to come.
